Some of state officials are participating in reporting their Income Tax Returns (ITR) through online tax service E-filing on 08/03/22. This activity was broadcasted live on the official YouTube account of the Directorate General of Taxes, @DirjenPajakRI.
Some of state officials who participated were the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, and Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy. In addition, this event was also attended by Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani accompanied by Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara, as well as the Head of Indonesian National Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Indonesian National Army Commander Bambang Suswantoro.
In the opening remarks of the Director General of Taxes (DGT), Suryo Utomo said that as of March 7, 2022, DGT had received 4.6 million ITR reports which consists of 4.5 million Individual ITR (IITR) and 147 thousand Corporate ITR (CITR). "The number is far from what we have targeted, we expect 15.2 million ITR in 2022. We believe that by broadcasting this, it can encourage taxpayers to submit ITR on time," said Suryo Utomo.
The leadership figure of state officials is very important to increase public awareness in reporting ITR. The deadline for submitting IITR is on March 31 and for CITR is on April 30. For this reason, taxpayers are encouraged to submit their ITR early.
Currently, DGT provides Electronic Filing system for taxpayers to submit their ITR anywhere and anytime without having to go to the tax office. The current taxation system in Indonesia is self-assessment, which is a system where taxpayers can do their own calculation, payment, and reports.
