Regarding the world's largest football party, the 2022 World Cup, the Qatari government provides fiscal incentives to support the event.
The fiscal incentive scheme is governed by Qatar's Ministry of Finance via decree No.9/2022. This regulation governs the provision of tax incentives and customs clearance for companies, individuals, and goods logistics associated with the 2022 World Cup.
The incentive target is not only given to spectators who hold tickets, but also to contractors and journalists who cover the event.
"Residents, non-residents from FIFA-affiliated organizations, broadcasters, contractors and service providers directly and indirectly participating in the 2022 world cup are completely exempted from taxation of the State of Qatar," said the Decree of the Ministry of Finance of Qatar quoted from Belasting.id.
Residents and non-residents who work to support the World Cup's agenda and receive additional income in the form of money or goods are exempted from paying income tax. Income tax incentive will be in effect until December 31, 2022.
Furthermore, Qatari non-resident individuals who are not FIFA affiliates but participate in World Cup-related activities are exempted from personal income tax. To qualify for this incentive, foreign citizens must enter Qatar 60 days before the first match and leave within 60 days of the final match [December 18, 2022].
The contractors who receive work contracts from FIFA and its affiliated organizations are then granted customs facilities. These incentives include exemption from import duty for goods, exemption from import tax, and exemption from tax on contract-related services.
